Some convertible tablet PCs from Fujitsu have become available, and the devices - classified under the name "L series" - are being met with nods of approval in many corners. Spec sheets and reviews indicate they're rather well-rounded in nature.
On the subject of appearances, Darius Chang wrote, "[T]he Fujitsu's new L lineup comes in a choice of five shades. Combined with a glossy top cover, we must say that these machines look even better than the other colored laptops in its catalog."
He then continued, digging into more serious stuff, "But this is not a stripped-down LifeBook, as it continues to offer a spill-proof keyboard, fingerprint sensor and the Eco mode which helps conserve power. Only a TPM security chip is missing, though this is more of a concern for the corporate user than a student or casual consumer."
The LifeBook T1010 tablet PCs come with a warranty (three years) and at a reasonable price (starting under $1,300). Michelle Thatcher pointed out problems including an extra bit of bulk, a small touchpad, weak speakers, and a less than ideal battery life, but these issues were raised more as quibbles than showstoppers.
Fujitsu's new products are already in stores, and the company sees students as the LifeBook T1010's target audience.
