It's a bit early to tell for sure, but 2010 looks to be shaping up as the year of the Tablet PC. Along with the rampant rumors of Microsoft Courier and the hype surrounding the Apple iPad, we have a new device added to the mix - the HP Slate.
With the iPad taking over newsrooms world over, let us take a look at a different kind of tablet: the graphics tablet. Also known as a digitizing tablet, graphics pad or drawing tablet this is an input device that permits drawing just like one would draw with a pencil and paper.
First a disclaimer: Apple's new iPad didn't meet expectations, either mine, or the folks who I've been talking with on Twitter. If my friends who work with or for Apple and in the press hadn't built it up as mind blowing it wouldn't have been disappointing, but this was a case where expectations got too big and what showed up didn't meet them.
Yes, the iPad.. I'm not kidding, they called it a flipping "iPad"... check out this video for a first look... am I crazy or does it look like a giant iPhone? With a name like iPad you can just imaging the jokes that are flying around the Geek-o-Sphere!
