Lenovo Announces Lepad Tablet

Another top PC maker intends to enter the tablet market late this year. Yesterday, China-based Lenovo announced that it will release a new product - dubbed the Lepad and based on the Android operating system - before 2011 rolls around.

Unfortunately, additional details are scarce at the moment. It's a fair bet that the Lepad is meant to take on the iPad, but if it'll just match the dimensions and capabilities of Apple's device in most respects or go some other route remains unknown.

A TradingMarkets.com article was able to report, at least, "The to-be-launched gadget will echo Lephone, an Android-based smartphone the PC giant rolled out previously, in functions like e-mail and web browse, said Liu Jun, senior vice president for Lenovo Group and president for Lenovo Product Group."
